About the Artist
Since early childhood, Florence has had a profound interest in the world around her. She was a very artistic child who always had a paintbrush in her hand. Her hunger for advanced training in this field continued to grow. This led her to seek workshops at the Centre d'Art Haitien and other Haitian art venues. While attending the center, Florence met Frank Louissaint, a hyper-realism artist, who supported her throughout her creative journey. Afterward, She gained recognition for her artistic excellence when one of her paintings was included in an exhibition at the Musee d’Art Haitien du College St Pierre. Florence also participated in multiple art contests such as the UNICEF Child Fund where she won first place. After moving to the United States, Florence continues to draw and paint in her spare time. Although her professional career as a Pediatrician is very demanding, Florence proves it is possible to balance the time commitment of being a doctor and another hobby or passion. With the support of her children, the undeniable encouragement from her husband, and the feedback from family, and friends, Florence continues to paint, to create, to dream.

Flory is joining the effort of the Alzheimer’s association in participating in The Longest Day. The Longest Day is the day of the year with the most light — the summer solstice. And it's the day that She has committed to fight Alzheimer's Disease and help advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
In order to refine her skills, Flory will challenge herself in a daily activity. She is starting a study series called Lasting Memories. Every day of the month of June she will complete a study on a subject of her choice and will have the painting available to the public for purchase. One painting a day leading to the longest day of June 21st.This is a challenge and it is all for a good cause.
Let’s join this fantastic journey and support the Alzheimer’s Association. The proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer association.

An impromptu visit to my studio this month and I was delighted. "Sunset over St Pete" and "Sunrise by the Bay" found a new house. Seeing others happiness brings me so much JOY.

​
" Immigration is rarely thought of as a woman's story. Women historically have accounted for almost fifty percent of immigrants in the United States and currently exceed that. Gender has influenced migrant women's choices to immigrate as well as their opportunities and challenges upon arrival. Immigrants of African descent have often the double expectation of building new communities while simultaneously maintaining the home country's culture and values in the new world. These women faces transmit the struggle, the pain as well as the freedom felt by many generations of immigrant women. Their experiences in America were very much like those of millions of other women who chose to make a new home in a new country."
